Dress shopping has obviously been high on my list of things to do. In full disclosure I was a little nervous to start this process. Not that I didn’t have every faith in the world in Volle’s and the amazing gowns but I sell these amazing wedding gowns each and every day! How the heck was I going to pick a dress for myself?!?!? Many thought I would have my exact dress picked out right away…I wish it was that easy!
I started my dress shopping just 3 days after getting engaged. With family in from out of state for the holidays everyone was excited to be part of the process. My family and friends were sending me dress pictures and flipping through bridal magazines like it was their job. I didn’t do much browsing online because I get walk through our bridal closets 6 days a week. I came to my appointment with an entourage and open mind. I probably had 100 dresses that I’ve been keeping an eye on, not to mention we had received about 50 new dresses in the past few weeks.
My appointment went off without a hitch, Pamela was truly amazing! I was probably her most difficult bride as I had no clue what type of dress I really wanted or envisioned myself walking down the aisle in. My biggest problem was finding a dress that I could make my own, a dress that I’ve never sold to a bride, a dress what I was confident in. This was no easy task, many of the gowns I tried on immediately brought back memories of working with a bride who had already said yes to this dress. After about 20 gowns, I put on the one! It was definately a crowd pleaser and props to my dad for suggesting I try it on when he saw it hanging up. This dress was so not what I thought I would end up in but it felt right. I felt confident and didn’t want to take it off. I was twirling around the boutique like a little kid, I now know the feeling I tell my brides about…when you know you know.
I woke up the next day and immediately looked at pictures and still loved my dress. I didn’t want my dress shopping to be over so quickly. I knew I loved my dress but working at a bridal salon I want to wow my wedding guests, so I decided that I needed a reception dress. For this shopping trip I brought my Mom and Future Mother in Law. I wanted something completely opposite of my ceremony gown and boy did I find it!
Stay tuned for sneak peeks of both gowns when they arrive from Maggie Sottero and Hayley Paige.
